United States
Приєднався 24 жов 2018
We are Sidney and Tory and we garden in zone 8a. We had a small 400 SF urban garden in Dallas, Texas and it was the best classroom for us to learn in. Recently we purchased 6.5 acres in Lamar County, Texas. We do not use any herbicides to harm our soil, pesticides to harm beneficial insects or synthetic chemicals. That is the reason we use the term "naked".
We are excited to expand our classroom and share our journey of failures and wins to hopefully help anyone else on this path.
We love experimenting with different gardening methods. Trying different recipes. And doing simple DIY projects to make gardening easy.
We upload videos every Thursday and Sunday morning.

Hahaha 😆
Just made one thanks to your video. Thanks very much.
Awesome. How many did you do?
@@TheNakidGardeners Just onefor now.
Ugh HOT again this year! God bless!
Right? We are trying to prep now. It's a month too late, though
Do you have a supply list? Specifically how many boards of each size?
I start out all my projects with (12) 2x4 and rip them down so i can double the boards. I believe i used about 16-20 2x4s
@TheNakidGardeners thank you so much! Do you happen to rember how many you ripped down?
@@kristabroschart8626 sorry I do not. I think just the legs and the support pieces I kept whole
@TheNakidGardeners that's ok thank you for all the info anyway I really appreciate it!
Lovely, thank you for all the tips! I live in a tiny studio with very little light, but I still want to try my hand at growing some veggies. I'll buy some UV lights and get to work! 💪
That is the ticket! #growyourown #eatyourown
hello every one..
Hey thanks for watching the replay
Excellent, thank you! Now I want a grow rack! LOL. 🙂
You got it champ
Hey i use those cheap 12." pavers everywhere too they are great
That Definitely come in handy
What size are those poop containers and where do you get them?
they are the large cement mixers. I talk more about farming on this channel: www.youtube.com/@7FarmerSidney7/videos
@@TheNakidGardeners thank you!
Lovely chat! Great video!
Thank you
For the drying rack QUESTION: Are there actually 2 pieces of hog fencing? Are they fastened together in any way? Thanks for the video!
Great question. They are two hog panels. I alternated the panels so the onions could fit. They are not fastened together. Will explain and show more when I store then this weekend
Your garden area turned out very nice. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thank you. We appreciate the kind words. This weather hasn't allowed us to be great.
Thanks for sharing your garden with us. Those onions are looking good. I know we are getting that crazy weather too. Happy gardening 😊
Thanks so much. This weather is not allow us to be great lol
Where do you get your vermiculite
Uline so far has been the only place to get it.
Uline is a packaging company

Just found your channel. Those are some amazing onions. Hope mine do as well here in north East Tennessee.
Greetings and welcome. This was our first year having a huge harvest like this for onions and garlic. We normally get ping pong size onions.
I loveee onions! Great job! 👏
Me too!! along with garlic. Now I need to plant more this fall in a bigger row.
Looking for a link to your rain point device?

Heya, that's a nice harfest, wouw a storm is rolling in
What's going on, Dutch? Yea, for the last month and a half, the weather isn't letting us be great. Thanks for stopping by and watching
Nice Harvest!! We love your drying rack!! Your Red and Yellow onions 🧅 are huge. Good Job. We love the Rain Point System!!
We enjoyed our RainPoint system last year. Mad that it busted on us from the winter months. Them hog panels came in clutch at the right time.
👍🏾💪🏾
Much luv kinfolk
Thanks for showing us your curing process for your onions Sidney!
Anytime champ
Loved music while viewing onions😊
Thanks luv
Evening all:)
Evening ms lady
Wonderful harvest!!!! I was given one of those systems to review. I plan to use it inside in my grow room, since we’ve recently been getting too much rain. Later, I may use it outside. Enjoyed your video. 👍🏾 Kindest Regards, Lady Cheryl ♥️
Go for it! I see I have to replace a few things in our irrigation system. I will be watching your indoor watering system
Way to go with your onions. May you enjoy the flavor they add to whatever you cook.
Yes, absolutely! Now if this rain could just slow down or not rain as much or as long. lol
I love my onions and garlic in Sydney Australia we use Temperate type onions, start seeding them in February in pots or containers to transplant when larger, (Saves weeding), November/December is our harvest time generally but I have extended the time with last years harvest with some red/pink varieties, will be letting a few seed for next year.
I would love to grow in your tropical area. I bet you have some wonderful garden plants
@@TheNakidGardeners I’m only Temperate, like before subtropical or tropical
You got some nice onions. Trying seeds I started in fall and are bulbing pretty good now. Usually get ping pong balls. I hang onions and garlic over sides of boxes. 😂 Not enough room in the garage. Then in onion bags. It works anyway.
Yea we normally get small bulbs as well. So I am pleased with this harvest

Time to fry 😂😂😅😅
Yes sir!
Excellent demonstration of using Bt Sidney! Thanks so much💪🏾
Glad it was helpful!
I like Salatin’s idea of keeping chickens under the rabbits and wood shavings/sawdust. Nothing smells bad. The rabbit poop gets mixed up in the shavings by the chickens scratching it out. Collect your high quality compost off the floor twice a year! No cleaning!
Yea he has a great system in place. But for a small farm it isn't feasible for us. We keep our rabbits in a shaded area and rotational graze our chickens weekly. So far we have not had a bad smell. The Top Gun crew comes by and eat some of the rabbit food they drop and their poop. Besides the mud (due to rainy season) we don't get much smell.
I’m just starting to eat vegan I will keep up with you
What is your reasoning behind going vegan?
Cheers from North Texas fellow homesteading permaculturists. Thanks for the notes on ammendments. Gonna try the succession legume planting advice and BT as my beds are suffering at a ph of 8. Managed to drop to 7.5 - 7 in a few days with kitchen scraps and chop and drop but still the constant rain this 2024 has been washing the acidity out and drowning sonme plants.
Cheers! Where about in our part of Texas are you? We are in Lamar county & this rain is just a HUGE challenge on all fronts right now!
I'm definitely a beginner and need a lot of tips for inside growing veggies and fruit
Let me know what you need help on. Which state are you growing in? What are you trying to grow? What are you growing in?
Sunflowers, cosmos, roses, mums, how bout herbs like mullein and comfrey, rosemary
those are great ideas as well. we have never had great success starting rosemary but can keep them alive that we purchased from the nursery
Calabaza is squash in Spanish, so that’s funny that there is a calabaza squash.
Well, pumpkins are calabazas and that does have the shape of one, so maybe that’s why. I don’t know.
I can see how they are with the Spaniards and the Puerto Rican culture. It is my top 5 squash fruit to eat.
@@TheNakidGardeners My wife is Peruvian and cooks a super delicious dish with butternut squash.
@@MickSupper Oh sounds interesting. What is it called?
Locro de sapallo but we just call it locro.
Hi Tori & Sidney Watching replay. Clay soil you add gypsum, yes more the organic matter the better, root crops can help airration. Agree with composting with PVC Pipe with composting worms, the worms can move in and out of pipe to eat organic matter, just cover top of pipe with a plastic pot. Agree with seaweed solution. The myth of Epson Salt (Magnesium Sulphate) is for promote flowering, orchids roses and other flowering plants hence more flowers more vegetable & fruit is the assumption. Once a month near the flowering period. Some believe Epson Salt helps with blossom end rot. I love onions and garlic, that’s my main crop in my backyard, I plant the seeds in February in a pot and transplant later to save on weeding, here in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 I’m still enjoying onions in June out of the garden, only a few left I go through so many.. Tori you compost all your animal manures then add to garden beds, rabbit manure you can put on directly into the garden.😁 Enjoy Hawaii Tori😁 If the fruit tree is above the graft you’ll get the correct fruit but if below graft you’ll get the stock plant. I likes the polite banter between you both❤
